Native to East Asia, it impresses not only with the splendor of its flowers, but also with its attractive autumn foliage in red-purple tones. The star-shaped white flowers are not only an eye-catcher in the garden, they are also an important source of food for bees and butterflies. At the end of summer it also produces edible red fruits which can be used in various ways, for example to make jams, or can be eaten as soon as they are harvested.
Location and care: It grows best in sunny or partially shaded locations with well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Regular watering and annual pruning after flowering are recommended to encourage growth and maintain shape. It is hardy, just does not like excessive frost.

2. Red maple (Acer palmatum Atropurpureum)
With its deep red leaves and characteristic fan shape, the red Japanese maple brings a touch of Asian style to your garden in no time! It mainly comes from Japan and Korea. The fantastic coloring of the leaves always makes the Japanese maple an eye-catcher in the garden; it is particularly suitable as a colorful accent in a modern and otherwise quite fresh garden. As a deciduous shrub or small tree it impresses not only in spring and summer, but also in autumn with its spectacular orange to scarlet red colouring. Its compact, bushy shape makes it an ideal choice for smaller gardens. It can be planted alone or in a group to develop its effect. It is also suitable as a pot plant.

Light pruning in late winter or early spring will help maintain shape and encourage further growth. Japanese red maple is hardy, but needs protection in severe frost.

Its upright, bushy habit reaches a height of up to 3 meters and is an excellent eye-catcher in the garden. Thanks to its compact growth and relatively small size, the viburnum is also one of the smallest shrubs that finds its place even in not very large gardens. Furthermore: The flower balls can be used ideally for spring bouquets and as decoration in spring.
Location and care: The Snowball Eskimo prefers sunny or partially shaded locations with well-drained soil. It is rustic and rarely requires pruning after spring flowering. Regular watering in the first years after planting promotes growth and development. True to its name, the Snowball Eskimo is durable and sturdy.
