Carpets are undoubtedly the «luxury at your feet»! And here we are not just referring to natural, hand-woven fibres, but also to the comfort and warmth they can offer.

These accessories are an important part of any arrangement and can even influence the entire design scheme. How do we integrate the carpet into the arrangement?

The choice of carpet is always closely related to the furnishings and the overall image of the room. Once you have selected the furniture for the desired decor, purchasing the floor accessory will be much easier. Depending on the layout and specifics of each individual room, you can be guided by the advice of the Select Design designers reported below.

For generous spaces, living room

When we talk about more generous areas, such as the living room, the carpet will be positioned in the center of the room with the furniture concentrated on its surface. The edges of the carpet will be left free to facilitate access but also to create an airy composition.

For the bedroom

Depending on the space of this room there are two possibilities for choosing the carpet. When the bedroom has generous dimensions, it is possible to place the bed and the two bedside tables on the carpet surface. In this case the length of the accessory on the floor will exceed that of the bed and the width will be greater than the sum of the bed and the bedside tables. If the bedroom is smaller, then you can place a smaller carpet, but wider than the bed so that there is a free surface of 50 cm on the sides of the bed.

For dinner

To create a unified decoration that delights both visually but also satisfies the functional side, it is important to choose a rug large enough to support on its surface the chairs removed from under the table, ready for guests. Placed chairs must not go beyond the edge of the carpet, otherwise there is a risk of injury.

For corridors

The corridor, a very important area, being the very introduction to the history of the house. For a beautiful introduction, the rug is centered and the furniture will be placed on both sides or, if the space is smaller, we place the furniture only on one side and the other side of the rug will be placed against the wall.

What size and color can we choose?

1. The right size

To find out the right size, you can use the following trick. Tape the floor in the area where the rug will be placed, then measure the area you marked.
