As an alternative to software solutions, there is also the possibility of calculating everything with a calculator or by hand. Using Excel is an additional variant. Special calculation software has the advantage that templates are often included. Fill it out and enter the corresponding values. The software takes over the calculation work. This minimizes calculation errors. However, some software also has the disadvantage of having only limited customization possibilities. It is not possible to enter other values in addition to the existing fields to be filled.
If a recalculation is only necessary from time to time, no independent software is usually necessary. If it’s a large project with a lot of data, the software can save a lot of time. We have compiled the most common tools in this table.
| Tool | Do | Advantages | Disadvantages |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manual calculation | Comparison of values based on existing evidence | Possible without any aid | Complex and error-prone |
| Excel | Manual transfer | Usually already present | Lots of manual effort |
| WEKA PS craft office | Automatic transfer of documents and data already available in the software | Clear presentation | Expensive (€523.60 VAT included for the post-calculation module) |
| MOSER post-calculus | Automatic transfer of documents and data already available in the software | Additional control-related features | Price only on request |
| LYMPH | Interface-based transmission of all required values | Comprehensive tool with many application areas | Depending on the chosen variant (desired modules), high costs |
| HERO Software | Target/actual comparison with the last created/uploaded offer | Easy to use | No automatic recalculation is possible yet |
| Actual and target values appear in the ratings area | Many other functions especially for craftsmen |
The variant you choose depends, as mentioned, on which software is already available and whether you want to perform frequent calculations. If you usually make very similar projects, it is usually sufficient to check the target values once with a subsequent calculation.
Final cost in Excel
FAQ: Does final cost calculation work in Microsoft Excel? If the requirements are met, a subsequent calculation can also be performed in Excel. Of course, Excel must be available first. Formulas are also needed to calculate the value. You can solve them yourself or find them online. It should be noted that these formulas still need to be adjusted to the actual data available. In general, Excel can be used as a tool for subsequent costing when dealing with small orders with just a few items.
Due to the lack of an interface connection, the data cannot be imported into Excel for subsequent calculations. Excel is purely a spreadsheet program, so no data from homegrown software or invoice content can be entered automatically. The required data is entered manually. The desired values are calculated using formulas. This is associated with a corresponding susceptibility to errors. Purchasing a template can help here. However, target and actual values still need to be entered manually.
Recalculation with HERO
If an automatic recalculation is not needed, but only a comparison between target values and actual values, this can be done directly in the HERO project folder. HERO experts will be happy to show anyone interested how to manually perform this form of recalculation in the HERO craftsman software and are available at any time to answer any further questions about HERO. Automatic recalculation is not yet possible in HERO, but is planned for the future. Subscribers to our newsletter will find out immediately when the feature will be available in the software.
In addition to the ability to perform a target/actual comparison, HERO offers a comprehensive invoicing program, digital order management and employee management can be digitized in HERO. You can try these and all other features yourself in the free trial version.
